HAWTHORN WOODS JUNIOR GOLF SCHOOLS
In many junior programs there is no incentive for the young golfers to get better. They get a multitude of information in a short period of time but they aren't continuing to golf after the clinics conclude. Hawthorn Woods Country Club wants to do better for our golfers of tomorrow, so we designed a new program to truly help our young golfers realize their potential.

First, we feel our Hat System encourages the young golfers to strive to for improvement.

Second, the evaluation process is always ongoing with a concentration in areas where improvement is needed.

Third, a reward system is established for practicing as well as performing.

This program has many notable changes from years past but one of the most important changes is the timeline with which we conduct our new school. It is set over the course of 7 weeks - not 2. We firmly believe that with the longer timeline the students are not overwhelmed with information in a condensed period and adequate space is provided to practice what has been taught. If you or your child has an expressed interest in learning the game of golf in a proper environment, sign up for this school and experience the rewards this game has to offer.

Below is a closer view of our new program.

4 HAT SYSTEM

Each Junior will receive a hat designating their current level after their comprehensive evaluation. The goal of the “Hat System” is to encourage the Juniors to strive to improve their game. Points will be given and tallied throughout the series. As the Junior completes their level he/she will receive a certificate of completion and the next level hat. There are 4 hat colors; Khaki (Par), Blue (Birdie), Red (Eagle) and Black for a Graduated Junior. The ultimate goal is for each Junior to pass through all the levels and graduate from the program.

JR. EVALUATION

Each Junior will be evaluated before the start of the program and graded on many of the faucets of golf.
Each skill will be graded and points will be awarded. All the points will be totaled; the total points will determine which Hat Color the Junior will receive. Juniors may be evaluated no more than 3 times per season.
